Baby Vera

She is here! We are all in love with her and are so glad she is here

The quick story:

I was scheduled to be induced early Sat morning so I dropped the kids off at Rose's house Friday night, came home, and John and I cleaned the house, organized, and packed for the hospital. Just as we were going to bed I had one serious contraction, which I knew meant it was for real. The contractions got stronger and closer and we spent the next two hours arguing about staying or going to the hospital. I wanted to just be at home and be comfortable and John wanted me to get to the hospital asap and get medication. John finally convinced me and we checked in around 3. About five minutes after we were settled in our room my water broke, about 15 minutes after that I got my epidural. About ten minutes after my epidural started to kick in I could tell she was coming! The doctor wasn't there yet and the nurses would not let me push despite me yelling and screaming. They finally gave in and she came in two pushes. The doctor arrived about 5 min after she came. It was all so fast, and it made me feel better knowing she came when she was ready. Im also glad John talked me into going in to the hospital when he did.

So far she is a super good eater and pretty easy going. She is so much different than Wes and Mae, we were expecting another Mae baby but she definitely has her own look. She has blonde hair and blue eyes and looks a lot like John. She has super long arms, fingers, legs and toes. I might actually have a baby that fits into normal baby shoes (I usually have to buy special shoes to fit Wes and Mae's chubby feet). Wes adores her and Mae thinks she is pretty cool but mostly ignores her, I can't believe we have three kids, crazy.

Vera Belle Petersen

8lb 2oz 19 inches long

We picked out the name Vera a while back and have always like it. My Dad's great grandmother's name was Rosa Belle, she went by Belle and we thought it was a good fit for Vera. We are excited to see how she changes and grows, the first two weeks they always change so much.

Rose got this picture of me the morning I went into labor when we took the kids to the pumpkin patch.

I love this one, and I think they look a like in this picture, so cute.

Almost

I'm so anxious for this little one to come. This is the week, the last week of this pregnancy and I'm hoping it doesn't last until Saturday. Her bed is ready, her clothes are ready, I finally got her some diapers, and my body is definitely ready. The kids sat and talked to her today giving her hugs and kisses and telling her that it's time to come now. Wes told her not to be scared and that he was excited for her to be in our family. He asks me every hour if she is coming now and if he can go to Rose's house now. I am ready to meet her and to hold her little body.

Conference

I thought it would be a good idea to let the kids paint while we listened to conference. It turned out to be even more of a distraction and mess, especially when the kids started dumping their paint and throwing their paint brushes at the wall. But it was really fun for a little while.

Celebrating Baby

Rose organized a casual little baby shower while we were in Chicago for all of us pregnant ladies, it was fun to hang out and talk about all these sweet little babies to come. Emily made a lemon basil cake, and it was to die for, so yummy! We had another little dessert night get together here in Utah with just us girls, we had fun eating giant sundae's and hanging out without our kids. Thanks to everyone who was a part of these fun parties!

These are the only pictures I managed to get:

Chicago

While my Mom and Beth were here we spent some time shopping and went into Chicago to see the Buckingham Fountains. Oh man, it was so hot and humid, but we had tons of fun together!

Wes and Mae started wrestling for fun this summer. Really Wes would lay on the ground while Mae sat on him and rolled on him until he couldn't hold still any more and then he would try to wrestle her, and she usually ended up crying. It was hilarious to watch.
