My boy

Wes is so grown up, and so sweet. When I put Wes to bed for a nap and bed each day we snuggle and giggle and talk. He always tells me that I'm his best friend (although he usually corrects himself and says that his dad is his best friend right after). I was talking to him a few days ago after singing I Love to See the Temple, and he said he wanted to go to the temple. I told him that when he grows up that he can find a nice girl and marry her in the temple. He got excited and said I want to find a girl with toys and go to the temple with her. I was telling John about what he said at dinner and so we asked him about going to the temple to get married and asked him what kind of girl he was going to find (hoping he would say nice). He said um... a pretty girl! And then we are going to get toys and play and go to the temple!

We started potty training Wes last week and he has been doing so well! We usually don't get away without one accident a day but for the most part he is doing great (and he is so cute in his little underwear, i love it).

I found this cute picture from when Wes was one, so cute.

Christmas

I don't even know where to start... Christmas was great and went by way too fast.
We had every member of the Mixa family here, including Rose, who was two weeks from her due date and threatening to come early. All the kids had so much fun playing with cousins and staying up late. I had clock orders coming in like crazy the whole month of December, especially the two weeks before Christmas which took a lot of my time and concentration. For some reason Christmas didn't stop and wait for me to catch up, it just came anyway even though I wasn't totally ready.

John went over the top and surprised me with a Canon 5d mark II! I almost feel embarrassed to have such a nice camera, I don't know what to do with it! It is pretty much my dream camera and have always though that I would probably never own it. John also got my dream lens to go along with it. Seriously John is so sweet to me! So you would think with getting a new camera I would have lots of fun new pictures but trying to learn a new camera plus busy schedules equals only a few pictures to post.

Wes has been having fun with all of his new cars, trucks and his new trike. And Mae is in love with her new lamby. It was a great Christmas.

Nephew

Rose had her baby on New Year's Eve. We are so excited for them to enter the world of boys!

My little walker

Mae started walking about a week before Christmas and has been getting better and better every day. She is still a little wobbly but whenever she is walking she has the biggest smile on her face and she thinks it's so fun (although you wouldn't know it by these pictures). Sometimes she gets so excited that she can't handle it and she just falls down, so cute.

Apple Hill

After thanksgiving we headed up to Apple Hill to get some apples and look for a Christmas tree. I had been craving the apple doughnuts and cider for a long time, so delicious, and so many good memories. Wes got to ride the little train that we all grew up riding and we had fun watching how the doughnuts were made.

We are Californians!

I thought moving around a lot would be annoying and hard, but I LOVE it. It is so much fun to just live somewhere for a little while and then have another adventure somewhere else. We will be here in Sacramento until spring and then it's off to a new adventure in some other state.

John and I started P90X this week. It is super hard but fun. I don't have much time for anything else since we start it a little after the kids go to bed, it takes and hour, and then we go to bed. I am way behind on Christmas shopping, cleaning, laundry, and pretty much everything. Hopefully the next time you see us we will be super fit/buff. My parents have been doing P90 and my dad lost 22 pounds in the first two weeks. They look and feel great!

We went on a walk up to the Sacramento Temple last week and Beth took a couple of family pictures for us. We didn't get any "perfect" pictures but I love the way they turned out. It's way to hard to get two toddlers to hold still and smile all at the same time.

A Great Thanksgiving

My great great grandpa studied animal husbandry at Cornell University and started a turkey and chicken farm. The Mixa Chick Hatchery was in my family for several generations and my Dad worked there when he was a kid. One of the things that has been perfected and passed down through these generations was how to barbeque a Thanksgiving turkey. My dad is a master barbequer and his turkey recipe is to die for. We usually have barbecued turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year and we have been enjoying leftovers since last week.
